What do statistics have to say about the Titanic end?

For those who have not watched Titanic (I don’t know anyone who didn’t watch apart from my wife), the end of the movie goes like this- Leonardo DiCaprio dies from the coldness of the freezing sea while holding onto the door on which Kate Winslet sits. The aftermath of the movie demonstrates through statistics and reviews that there was enough place on that door for DiCaprio to survive along with Kate Winslet.
